The goal of the partnership is to improve the quality of and access to HIV related services in the Southwest region of Cameroon. In this framework the following results are envisaged: Laboratory staff acquires additional knowledge in PCR techniques for the detection of M. tuberculosis complex, in addition to Pneumocystis and HIV. Required training has been implemented; the Clinical Surveillance Room evolves into a High Dependency Unit; operational research projects are implemented; knowledge regarding HIV and HIV-related patient care is shared with co-operating centres and internationally.
