In this framework the following results are envisaged: A new Neonatal Care Unit (NNCU) is established and the quality of services is improved; equipment and consumables have been procured; staff and hospital personnel have received training in management of neonatal health problems and in the use and maintenance of equipment; staff have participated in advanced courses at ITMIH Berlin/TropEd Network; the capacity of hospital management has been strengthened; results and lessons learned have been presented to a broad audience. An exchange has been established with the regional hospital in Lindi/Tanzania, where effective approaches have been developed to improve newborn health; South-South cooperation is initiated.
