Project description
|
One person out of every 1,400 in Sub Saharan Africa has albinism. The condition is very poorly understood and stigmatised, and people living with the condition frequently experience discrimination and violence. Edenpark is a GP Surgery based in Raheney, Dublin, in partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre and the Association of People with Albinism in Malawi, based in Lilongwe. This partnership includes mutual visits by dermatologists between Ireland and Malawi, protected clinic hours to ensure patient safety while accessing healthcare, and providing sunblock and other protective measures, while exploring reciprocal links between disadvantaged communities in Dublin and Malawi.
